A Circuit That Runs Through a City
The Macau Grand Prix began in 1954, started by a group of local motoring enthusiasts. It uses the roughly 6.2 km Guia street circuit — a track that tests both flat-out straights and the famous Reservoir and treacherously tight Lisboa bends. For seventy years the world's best drivers have raced here, but this series is about the local and Macanese drivers who put Macau's name on the trophy.
It Began With the First Winner
The inaugural race ran on 30–31 October 1954, won by Eduardo "Eddie" de Carvalho in a red Triumph TR2 that is still displayed at the Macao Grand Prix Museum. A note of accuracy: the museum lists his nationality as Portuguese, not Macau-born — he is included here for his foundational place in Macau's motorsport history.
