Series
From a director who reached Cannes to familiar faces in Hong Kong film and TVB drama, screen talents from Macau have carried many a scene. This series gathers Macau people active in film and television — from the director Soi Cheang to the actors Michelle Reis, Isabella Leong, Alex Fong, Vincent Wan and Noel Leung.

Soi Cheang moved from Macau into Hong Kong cinema and took genre films such as SPL II: A Time for Consequences and Twilight of the Warriors: Walled In to Cannes and Berlin — the most prominent Macau director of recent years.

Soi Cheang
A Macau-born Hong Kong film director known for stylish, hard-edged genre cinema. His films include Accident, Motorway, SPL II, Limbo, Mad Fate and Twilight of the Warriors: Walled In, with selections at Cannes, Berlin and Venice, and two Hong Kong Film Award wins for Best Director.

Clara Law
A Macau-born film director and screenwriter, a leading figure of the Hong Kong New Wave's second generation who later settled in Australia. Her Autumn Moon won the Golden Leopard at Locarno in 1992, Floating Life was Australia's submission for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film, and she won Best Director at the 2021 Golden Horse Awards for Drifting Petals — among the most internationally recognised filmmakers from Macau.

Stephen Shin
A Macau-born Hong Kong film director and producer. He directed films such as The Black Cat and the epic The Great Conqueror's Concubine (with Gong Li), and produced Jackie Chan's Hollywood breakthrough Rumble in the Bronx — an important behind-the-scenes figure of 1980s–90s Hong Kong cinema.
Actors from Macau have left their mark across Hong Kong film and television drama. Michelle Reis went from 1988 Miss Hong Kong to the screen; Isabella Leong won Best Actress at a Portuguese film festival for Isabella; Alex Fong and Vincent Wan played tough roles across countless Hong Kong productions; Noel Leung was TVB's 1990s "Queen of Costume Drama"; and the wushu champion Lei Fei crossed over into acting. Ming-Na Wen, born in Coloane, went further still, becoming a leading Chinese-American actress in Hollywood — the voice of Disney's Mulan and a familiar face from Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Star Wars: The Mandalorian.
Television has its place for Macau faces too. The Macanese Louie Castro was a first-generation teen idol of 1970s Hong Kong TV and a long-serving screen presence and host; and Maria Cordero ("Fat Mama") reinvented herself from singer to a household-name cooking and variety host. Drawing on public sources, this series focuses on the work and achievements of these Macau screen talents.
