Macau's Fashion & Design Forces
Macau's art rosters long held only painters and visual artists, with no place for fashion or graphic designers. This series gathers the creators carrying Macau design abroad: [Lalaismi Wai](person:lalaismi-wai), whose label POURQUOI showed at Paris TRANOÏ; [Tramy Lui](person:tramy-lui), whose studio TICK.DESIGN won an iF Design Award; [Cordova / Kou Sio Long](person:kou-sio-long), whose bespoke menswear brand Cordova won repeated Cultural Affairs Bureau support; and [Leong Man Teng](person:leong-man-teng), whose brand GELÉE fuses fashion with painting.
The Designers the Rosters Left Out
Macau's lists of notable people never lacked painters and visual artists; what they lacked were fashion and graphic designers. Yet it was these designers who carried Macau's name into Paris fashion fairs, international design awards and local creative-grant programmes. This series puts them back on the list.
