The City of Gastronomy's Calling Card
In 2017 Macau was named a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy. Yet its older rosters of notable people made room only for the founders of souvenir-food brands, never for the chefs behind the table. This series fills that gap — from star-winning Cantonese chefs to the author safeguarding Macanese home cooking.
Two Peaks of Cantonese Cuisine
Tam Kwok Fung (Chef Tam) leads Chef Tam's Seasons (譚卉) at Wynn Palace. The restaurant won one Michelin star in the guide's first Macau edition (2024), then rose to two stars, held through the 2026 edition; on Asia's 50 Best, it was Macau's only listed restaurant and "Highest Climber" in 2025, climbing to No. 7 in 2026. Tam himself has been named a Black Pearl "Chef of the Year."
