The Last Portuguese Governors
Before Macau's 1999 handover, the territory was governed by governors appointed from Lisbon. This series records, in a neutral historical register, several of the Portuguese-era governors around the transition — from Garcia Leandro, Melo Egídio and Almeida e Costa to Rocha Vieira, the last governor who oversaw the handover itself.

Before the handover on 20 December 1999, Macau was long administered by governors appointed from Lisbon. This series presents several of these governors around the transition in a neutral historical register, recording their terms and offices without praise or blame.
