Born in Beijing in 1992 and later a permanent resident of Macau, Li Yi competes internationally in wushu for Macau, China. A student of Macau Polytechnic University, she specialises in women's changquan together with the sword and spear events. As the leading woman on the Macau wushu team, she has long anchored the territory's medal hopes in the women's taolu disciplines.

Career

I. World Championship golds

Li Yi has been a regular World Wushu Championships medallist: at the 2019 Shanghai World Championships she won double gold in sword and spear and medalled in the paired event; she took changquan bronze at Kazan 2017 and a paired silver at Kuala Lumpur 2013, showing all-round strength across multiple forms.

II. World University Games

At the 2017 Taipei World University Games she won gold in changquan and in the combined sword/spear event, claiming Macau's gold at those Games — a major breakthrough in her career.

III. Continental and Asian Games stages

Li Yi competed at three Asian Games: she took the combined sword/spear silver at Incheon 2014 and changquan silver at Jakarta 2018, and added multiple golds and silvers at the Asian Wushu Championships.

At the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games, Li Yi won the women's changquan event. It was both the peak of her career and the first Asian Games gold medal ever won by a woman for Macau — a landmark result. In 2023 the Macau SAR government conferred on her the Silver Lotus Medal of Honour.
